Enstron Floor Underlayment is installed beneath floating floors to provide sound dampening, moisture protection, and minor subfloor irregularity compensation. Compatible with laminate, engineered hardwood, and SPC floating floor installations. Installed beneath floating floors in residential and light commercial applications. Required when installing laminate or engineered hardwood over concrete slabs (moisture barrier function) and over wood subfloors in multi-storey homes (sound dampening function).
Do I need underlayment with SPC flooring?
Most SPC flooring has a factory-attached underlayment pad and does not require separate underlayment. Adding a second layer of underlayment beneath SPC causes the click-lock joints to flex and fail. Always check the flooring manufacturer's installation instructions before adding underlayment.
Is underlayment the same as a vapour barrier?
Some underlayment products include an integrated moisture barrier. Others do not. On concrete subfloors, a moisture barrier is essential. Confirm whether the Enstron underlayment includes built-in moisture protection, or whether a separate poly vapour barrier is needed, at your local Windsor Plywood location.
