• Cut casing joints at 45 degrees at the head corners using a mitre saw -- mitre joints produce a cleaner appearance than butt joints.
• Leave a 1/8" reveal on the jamb edge -- set the casing back 1/8" from the inside face of the jamb rather than flush.
• Nail casing through the drywall into the framing at the outer edge, and nail into the jamb at the inner edge.
