Is Azek trim paintable?
Yes. Azek cellular PVC trim accepts exterior latex paint with proper surface preparation. The smooth, consistent surface provides an excellent painted finish with no grain to telegraph through the paint. Factory-primed Azek trim is ready to paint on the jobsite. Azek trim does not need to be back-primed, as PVC does not absorb moisture from behind the way wood trim does.
Does Azek require special fasteners?
Yes. Azek requires stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners due to the PVC chemistry. Standard zinc-plated screws are not compatible. For face screwing, use composite deck screws or Azek-approved fasteners. For hidden fastener applications, Azek-compatible clip systems maintain the proper expansion gaps required for PVC's higher thermal movement compared to wood.
What is the maintenance requirement for Azek products?
