Windsor Plywood carries complete entry lock sets including keyed lever and knob sets, handlesets with integrated deadbolts, and electronic smart lock sets from Weiser, Taymor, and Nottingham. Entry lock sets combine a keyed latch function with a deadbolt into a coordinated product, available in matching finishes for a unified door hardware appearance.
A handleset typically features a decorative exterior grip (pull or lever) with a deadbolt controlled from the interior thumb turn, along with a separate keyed latch set below. This split configuration is common on premium entry doors and allows a large decorative exterior handle with a separate operating latch. A standard entry lock set uses a single lever or knob that also contains the latch function, with a deadbolt installed separately above.
ANSI Grade 2 is the minimum recommended security grade for residential entry applications. Grade 1 provides higher security and longer tested cycle life. For main entry doors, investing in Grade 1 hardware for the deadbolt and latch set provides meaningfully better security and durability over the lifetime of the door. Grade 3 hardware is intended for light-duty interior use and is not appropriate for exterior entry doors.
Not by default — locks come from the factory with individual key cylinders. To key multiple locks to the same key, locks must be rekeyed to a common key code during installation. This is called key alike and can be done by a locksmith after installation. Some manufacturers including Weiser offer SmartKey re-keying that allows homeowners to rekey their own locks without professional help. Purchasing a keyed alike set from the retailer is the most convenient approach for new construction.
Backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the bore hole. Standard backsets are 2-3/8 inches and 2-3/4 inches. An adjustable backset lock set works with both dimensions, which simplifies installation and replacement without measuring the existing door. Most quality lock sets sold in Canada include the adjustable backset feature.
